Wise Owl Tale
Once upon a time… In a distant forest, there lived a wise owl who watched the night. His name was Wise, because he was the wisest and oldest creature in the forest. Every night, the Wise Owl flew under the stars, watching and guiding the inhabitants of the forest. The animals in the forest admired his knowledge and often consulted him to solve their problems. But deep down, this wise owl had a secret that the forest kept to itself: He wanted to see the dark side of the moon.
Wise Owl’s biggest dream was to see the dark side of the moon. Every night, he would look up at the sky, secretly excited to solve the mystery of that shiny, silvery disk. One night, as the owl watched the shadows swirling around the moon, a young squirrel, Crunchy, came up to him and asked, “Wise Owl, are you watching the sky again tonight?” The Wise Owl looked at the squirrel Crunchy and sighed. “Yes, my little friend. I have been wanting to see the dark side of the moon for years, but it seems impossible to get there.”
Squirrel Crunch was very impressed by Wise Owl’s words. “Then we will help you too!” he said excitedly. The Wise Owl smiled and patted the young squirrel on the back and said, “Thank you, my little friend. But it is a very difficult task, almost impossible!”
But the idea spread quickly through the forest. All the animals gathered to help Wise Owl realize his dream. Everyone suggested their own way: “Let’s put feathers together and make a path to the sky!” said the crow. The rabbits said that with their long ears they could listen to the paths of the stars. The deer, the fastest runners in the forest, joined the search for a path, saying, “We can jump all the way to the moon, maybe we can reach it!” The Wise Owl was touched by the interest of his friends, but he knew how difficult it would be to accomplish such a feat.
At this time, Shadow Eagle, an old friend of the forest, appeared. Shadow was a powerful bird that could fly close to the stars. “Wise Owl,” he said, ”I may not be able to take you to the moon, but I can show you the sky and the stars more closely.” The Sage was very happy at this offer and jumped on Shadow’s back. That night, Shadow and Wise Owl ascended high above the forest, among the stars.
As he flew, the Wise Owl got a closer look at the thousands of stars shining deep in the sky. But he still could not see the dark side of the moon. Still, being in the sky, flying so close to the stars, was an indescribable experience for Wise Owl. On the way back to the forest with Shadow, Wise Owl could not hold back his tears. For him, the most important thing was not reaching the moon, but his friends’ belief in his dream and their help.
When he returned to the forest, all the animals greeted Wise Owl with enthusiasm. While thanking his friends, Wise Owl said, “What made me happy was not reaching the moon, but the effort you all made for me. It is not important to see the dark side of the moon, the most important thing is to reach dreams with friendship.” Hearing these words, the animals looked at each other with smiles and realized once again how strong the friendship in the forest was.
From that day on, Wise Owl looked up at the night sky again, but this time he did not try to reach the dark side of the moon. Now his friends in the forest and the love they showed him were as bright as the stars in the sky. Grandfather Moon was also shining his brighter light over the forest, as if he approved of Wise Owl’s peace of mind. And every night, Wise Owl slept peacefully under that bright light.
After that night in the forest, when friendship and dreams came together, Wise Owl’s eyes became even wiser. Because now he knew not only the sky, but also the value of friendship.
