A Tale of Three Baby Rabbits

Many years ago, deep in the forest, a rabbit and her three babies lived together in unity. Every day the mother rabbit would go out and pick carrots. Then these carrots were divided equally among the siblings.

One day the mother rabbit went away from home to gather food. The older and middle brother and sister followed their mother outside without permission. The little one warned them at the door, but they didn’t listen. Then he went inside.

The cubs were looking around for food. They saw a carrot field ahead. The older brother dived into the field under the fence. The middle brother hesitated. He remembered his mother’s words.

He didn’t think it was right to go into the field without permission and take carrots. The older cub didn’t listen to his brother and randomly dug carrots out of the soil.

The middle brother drooled and entered the field too. Then their bellies were full. They couldn’t move anywhere. They fell asleep where they were. The mother rabbit returned home.

She waited for her babies. The baby rabbits woke up hours later. They were so thirsty that they fell in while trying to drink water by the stream. After they managed to get ashore soaking wet, they headed home. It was getting dark and it was already late.

The mother rabbit was angry with them for being late. On the other hand, old Uncle Osman, the owner of the field, was surprised and saddened when he saw the carrots.

As it was, he could hardly look at the field. He decided to spy on the field. The next morning the day was bright. Around noon, the mother rabbit went out to look for food. The older cub called the middle brother outside again. He said he would stay with his brother because he had learned his lesson.

The big cub went to the field alone this time. Uncle Osman was standing in his hiding place without making a sound. The big baby rabbit was biting some of the carrots and throwing some on the ground without tasting them.

Seeing this, Uncle Osman came out of hiding with a broom in his hand. He started chasing the rabbit and hitting it on the head. It ran away from under the fence. Uncle Osman stopped chasing him.

The mother rabbit came home. Just as she was about to ask for the big baby, he came too. It was obvious she was scared. He apologized to everyone in turn. From that day on, she never left her family’s side for a minute. And this story ended happily.
